Kamal Kumar Roy, Partner

Mr Kamal Kumar Roy is the Founder & President of Universal Agro Chemical Industries. He had started this company in 1973 with a couple of micro-nutrient products and a modest manufacturing facility at Shirakole.

Since its inception, he has guided this company from strength to strength on the basis of his values, dedication and resourcefulness. His humble beginnings or lack of formal training in agricultural science has never deterred him from developing an innovative product or from executing a challenging project.

A hands on knowledge of agricultural practices and agri-inputs and a clear understanding of issues plaguing Indian farmers have helped him translate his ideas, time and again, into successful products that are valued by the end users.

Currently, he focuses his energy in product development, besides providing strategic guidance to the company and mentoring the next line of leaders.

Subhomoy Roy, Partner

Subhomoy is the Vice President of Universal Agro Chemical Industries leading the Operations function of the company. He is currently managing production and logistics operations across all 4 plants and 6 warehouses of the company.

Additionally, he is in charge of companywide Sourcing operations and Regulatory Compliance. Subhomoy has nearly 22 years of experience in production of agrochemicals. He had started his career in the company at a very young age working in production and has over the years gained the experience and developed the skills and knowledge required to run and manage chemical plants.

His focus and area of expertise has helped him develop a sound understanding of the agrochemical industry and a strong network among the key industry players in India. In addition to his remit in Operations, he leads all Quality initiatives across the company.

Sushmita Roy, Partner

Sushmita is the Vice President of Universal Agro Chemical Industries heading the Sales and Marketing function of the company. Overall she has around 15 years of experience in industrial marketing. In her current role with Universal, she leads a sales force of around 200 people operating across 8 states and manages relationships with more than 700 channel partners. She is also in charge of all marketing and branding functions and handles all trade promotions of the company. Additionally, Sushmita is the business leader of the company’s Seeds division and is in charge of the strategic plan of this business. Prior to joining Universal, she has worked for leading Indian companies across many states of India where she has gained experience in sales and marketing of industrial products.

Sayak Dey, CFO

Sayak is the Vice President of Universal Agro Chemical Industries leading the Finance and Strategy functions of the company. Overall he has around 15 years of experience in Finance operations.

In his current role with Universal, he leads the Finance function and manages all strategic initiatives within the company. As part of this role, Sayak has developed a strategic vision for the company and has initiated an enterprise wise transformation plan to build capabilities to scale up operations and to improve performance. Additionally, Sayak leads the HR function of the company and manages all strategic alliances and partnerships for the company.

Prior to joining Universal, Sayak worked as a Strategy and Operations Consultant focusing on optimizing and redesigning Finance functions. His clients included a number of large multinational companies operating mostly in the consumer and industrial products industry and has worked on engagements across multiple countries like USA, UK, China, France, Mexico, UAE, Jordan and India. Sayak is an MBA from the Indian School of Business and a Chartered Accountant.
